The International Influence
The New Wave's influence extended far beyond France, and international actors increasingly worked in French productions:
Anouk Aimée, though French, became an international star through films like "La Dolce Vita" (1960) and "8½" (1963) with Fellini, before returning to France for Claude Lelouch's "A Man and a Woman" (1966), which won the Palme d'Or at Cannes.
Monica Vitti, the Italian actress best known for her work with Antonioni, made several French films that showed the increasing internationalization of European cinema.
