Personal Rhône Stories
Everyone touched by the Rhône has their own river story. For Swiss mountain guides, it's about witnessing the retreat of glaciers. For Lyon dock workers, it's about families whose lives have revolved around river commerce for generations. For Camargue rice farmers, it's about balancing freshwater and salt.
Ahmed Mansouri, who arrived from Syria as a refugee and now works as a river tour guide in Avignon, found healing in the Rhône: "In Aleppo, I lived near the Queiq River. When I came here, traumatized, lost, the Rhône saved me. Different river, same flow. I could breathe again by the water. Now I share this river with visitors, tell them how water connects all humanity."
